​What We Do​
We hold weekly workshops to educate our members in professionalism and business etiquette. These workshops include interviewing, networking, public speaking, time management, leadership and are often taught by our alumni and experienced brothers. These workshops are one of the main reasons for the launch of successful careers for our members.
Professionalism
We strive to maintain strong bonds with our current members as well as our alumni. Annually we hold multiple events where our alumni come back time and time again to visit their alma mater and meet the new members. In addition, we hold events every semester that include team building activities. These events allow for Alpha Kappa Psi members to foster strong networks at a young age to help them in the future.
Brotherhood
As a professional business fraternity we also help businesses promote themselves.We have received sponsorships from companies such Debt Free Like Annie.We also participated in Montclair State’s Boys to Men Conference, Resume Building workshop with Career Services and various student development programs.
Education
Iota Rho understands the importance of giving back to our community. Every year we participate in as many charitable opportunities as we can. This past year one of our major events included Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and Relay For Life. The members of Iota Rho annually dedicate their time on Thanksgiving to give back to the elderly at the Plainfield Senior Center. Our largest event every year however is Dress to Success: Fashion Show. In past years we have raised funds in order to help the children of the St. Judes Foundation. We recently changed our philanthropy to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, for whom we will hold an annual charity banquet for. Overall we devoted over 1,380 hours of community service as a chapter.
